"Fuck it, you can’t beat me now anyway, what I say, goes!"
The words, riddled with anger, hit hard, punctuated by the rhythmic sound of the rain.
Flossie Wright looked up.
He held a black umbrella over his head, protecting her entire body. The rainwater slid off the umbrella ribs in torrents, splashing up misty patterns as it hit the ground.
His black trench coat was dappled with raindrops, his shoulders glistening with tiny droplets which reflected a faint shimmer.
His gaze, locked onto her, was filled with lingering anger. In his deep, dark eyes, she could vaguely make out her own reflection.
After a while, Flossie sighed, "Alright, what do you want to do?"
Whether it was a misconception or not, she suddenly found herself in a disadvantageous position and had no choice but to submit to Perry Reed’s whims.
"Hospital."
The short command left no room for debate.
"Uh," Flossie slightly shifted her gaze, "There’s a pharmacy nearby that I know of."
"I’m hungry."
Interrupting his denial, Flossie raised her eyebrows.
Perry froze as if he had thought of something. Without a word, he tacitly acquiesced.
This was the same pretext she had used last time.
Of course, the main reason was that Flossie wasn’t severely hurt. A cold and some minor injuries seemed too trifling to warrant a hospital visit.
Like Flossie, Perry also despised making a fuss about trivial matters. Stirring up trouble in the hospital would only mean more hassles for them.
"Let’s go."
Slipping out of his grip, Flossie turned and made her way towards the familiar pharmacy.
Quite conveniently, it was the same place she had bought medicine for Perry before. She had a knack for remembering places she had been to, so finding the pharmacy was easy for her.
However, there was something she hadn’t anticipated.
The Pharmacy.
With a stern face, Perry accompanied Flossie to the entrance.
Outside, a plastic box thoughtfully placed to store umbrellas stood next to the entrance. The box was wet from the rain, and the floor nearby was damp. Clearly, it had sheltered quite a few umbrellas before.
Perry scanned the scene briefly, folded up their umbrella, and tossed it into the box.
Meanwhile, Flossie made her way into the pharmacy.
"Oh, it’s you."
Recognizing the customer, the Shop Assistant immediately approached her. Upon seeing Flossie’s face, the assistant paused, surprised, and greeted her enthusiastically.
Flossie frowned.
"Have you been here before?"
The Shop Assistant asked enthusiastically.
Hesitant, Flossie nodded, "Yes."
Sensing Flossie’s indifference, the Shop Assistant took a good look at her and decided not to engage her further.
For someone in business, remembering a customer is commendable, but one that can be remembered within a single encounter was rare. Flossie, however, had that kind of charisma that could be easily recognized in a crowd.
Last time, she had left an impression of being direct, decisive, and cool, making her memorable.
This time, it was even more so.
Her outfit wasn’t exactly casual, but her coolness was more pronounced. In a simple jacket and leather pants, she presented a strong visual impact.
After mentioning a few medications, she stood by the counter with her hands in her pockets. Her pose was laid-back and carefree, an air of laziness and calm surrounding her. The soft halo behind her was dazzingly eye-catching.
The Shop Assistant hurriedly fetched the medicine. Unconsciously, her fingers trembled slightly.
As she grabbed the cold medicine, a sudden feeling of unexplained danger surged in her heart. With a shake of her hand, the box of medicine fell to the floor.
