Glenn Hutchinson was originally not a cook, but after serving in the Forces for two years, he picked up a few culinary skills. Kirana Williams was either tired of Glenn’s father’s cooking, or found something uniquely different about her son’s cooking. Hence, every time Glenn came home, the task of cooking always fell onto him.
It was hard for him to find time to come home on a regular basis, and he was even unsure whether he could return the next time. Therefore, he hardly ever refused such small tasks.
He nodded calmly, seemingly accustomed to this routine, and didn’t show any signs of discomfort. He then headed straight to the kitchen.
"Wait," noticing Flossie Wright by the side, Kirana Williams quickly devised another plan and halted Glenn. "Glenn, do you know what Flossie likes to eat?"
Glenn paused in his tracks, glanced at Flossie, and answered flatly, "I do."
Now, it was Flossie’s turn to be taken aback.
In her opinion, she wasn’t particularly picky about food - apart from a few local dishes that she found hard to stomach. Given the intensity of the training in the Forces, she didn’t critique anything made by the cooking class. Moreover, during the few meals she shared with Glenn, she didn’t express any particular liking for any dishes.
So, how did he figure it out?
"That’s good."
With Glenn’s confirmation, Kirana Williams nodded in satisfaction. It was rare to see her son being so considerate. That meant she didn’t need to worry about whether these two would end up together or not.
Flossie revealed a hint of a smirk witnessing this mother-son duo’s exchange.
However, there was surprisingly no sense of discord.
"Sister, did you sleep with dad last night?" The little Hutchinson who had been ignored, sat next to Flossie and asked innocently. His bright eyes sparkled with curiosity.
Thinking of last night, Flossie’s face darkened.
"Dad just stayed at your place last night..." Kirana Williams chuckled, patting the little Hutchinson’s head. She was about to reassure Flossie not to take it to heart, but seeing Flossie’s fleeting stiffness and annoyance, she blinked in surprise, a suspicion gradually rising.
Could it be true?
The little Hutchinson, completely oblivious, looked at Flossie with pure anticipation. "So, Sister, will you stay at our house tonight?"
"No." Flossie answered without any hesitation. She looked down at the little Hutchinson looking up at her, and seeing his disappointment, her icy gaze softened. She added, "I’ll come see you next time."
She and Glenn were being targeted. No matter how she looked at it, she didn’t think Glenn would bring this trouble home, especially with a child around. It might not be a big problem to stay the night on usual days, but today, that chance was virtually zero.
After thinking for a while, the little Hutchinson eventually covered up his disappointment and obediently nodded at her.
However, in contrast to the little Hutchinson’s relief, Kirana Williams was feeling a bit gloomy as if a worry was hanging over her heart, something she couldn’t sort out for the moment.
If Glenn and Flossie really did "share a bed", then...
Their Hutchinson family couldn’t take advantage of a young lady. After all, they should at least give her a proper status, right?
But before Kirana Williams could decide on how to confirm this fact with Flossie, a phone rang in the living room. All of them looked around and noticed that the sound actually came from the pocket of a jacket hanging on the living room wall.
